April 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

It has been eleven years since that fateful day in the Columbine Library when our daughter, Cassie, was murdered. She, along with eleven other students and a teacher, lost their lives while twenty-three others were wounded. All of this at the hands of two suicidal fellow students who, over the course of more than a year, planned on taking as many lives as possible. This tragic event riveted our community and greatly affected our entire family along with those who were directly impacted.

We will never recover from the loss of our Cassie, but God has shown us a special measure of grace. He has been patient during times when we question His will, He has strengthened us to stand up for our faith, and provided us with an awesome global church family to stand beside us. Our faith has carried us through the worst days of our lives and we continue to lean on Him when grief seeks to overwhelm us again. We think of Cassie daily and will miss her always.

Cassie's brother, Chris, has married and is giving us the incredible gift of grandchildren which will help fill the hole in our hearts. The journey of grief for us has been an unbelievably long process, but we are finally able to live our lives with hope for our future and purpose for our lives and loss.

Thank you for your love, support and prayers.
